C., SATURDAY, JUNE 20, 1942 TRYON BOYS CLUB TO START MONDAY AFTERNOON, JUNE 22 The Tryon Boys club will start ijUt annual summer work on Mon fljk afternoon, June 22, at 2:30. ^nys between the ages of 9 and 16 are asked to come to the Tryon school building for the opening meeting. The work of the club will take up six weeks of the summer season. All boys of the community are welcome to join and take part in building up them selves and the community. For the first week the club will hold its sessions in the afternoon and after that during the morning. The club was given its initial start eight years ago by Dr. Geo. Farrand Taylor who actively con ducted its organization for three years. Major W. A. Sthilletter next had charge of the club for three more years. M. B. Caldwell who carried on the work last year will again have the leadership for this summer’s session. The club fi been made possible through } kindness and interest of Mrs. ne Bosworth Greene, who felt the need of such an organization for the community during the summer months. The keynote of the club’s activi ties for this year will be “Ser vice in Time of War.” The in dividual will be given a chance to develop himself as a better citizen and to equip himself to be ready to serve his country when called upon. Physical train ing will take up part of the day’s program with particular emphasis on hikes so that every boy will be familiar with the different trails leading to the surrounding mountains.
